On the Organization and Conduct of the Open Internet Olympiad in the Discipline “Ecology and Environmental Protection” among University Students
These Regulations have been developed in order to implement the action plans for the realization of the Concepts for the Development of the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan, to improve the teaching of natural and exact sciences, to introduce innovations into the educational system, and to ensure independent monitoring of the quality of education through the organization of an open Internet Olympiad in the discipline “Ecology and Environmental Protection”.
- General Provisions
These Regulations serve as a normative document governing the organization and conduct of the Open Internet Olympiad in academic disciplines among students of higher education institutions.
The expansion of opportunities for the use of digital information and communication technologies creates favorable conditions for the mass participation of talented students in academic and project competitions.
Such competitions help to identify gifted students capable of conducting scientific research using innovative technologies and independently solving complex scientific problems.
Main Objectives of the Internet Olympiad
- Strengthening friendly relations among students of higher education institutions and promoting the exchange of mutually beneficial scientific information;
- Organizing joint scientific discussions among faculty members and students of participating universities;
- Developing students’ independent thinking and research skills and their ability to solve scientific problems;
- Encouraging in-depth study of natural and exact sciences and the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
Tasks of the Internet Olympiad
- Fostering interest in solving practical problems using modern digital information and communication technologies;
- Strengthening cooperation and interaction among higher education institutions through digital technologies;
- Identifying talented and capable youth and creating favorable conditions for their further intellectual development and professional orientation;
- Assessing students’ ability for quick and accurate reasoning in the discipline “Ecology and Environmental Protection”.
- Organizational and Methodological Support
An Organizing Committee is established to provide overall management of the preparation and conduct of the Internet Olympiad. The composition of the Organizing Committee is approved by the Rector of the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan.
The Organizing Committee:
- Determines the main principles for conducting the Internet Olympiad and carries out organizational activities;
- Prepares proposals regarding the procedure and schedule of the Olympiad;
- Cooperates with representatives of participating universities in developing Olympiad tasks;
- Considers participants’ appeals and provides clarification regarding complaints and individual applications.
- Procedure for Organizing and Conducting the Olympiad
The Open Internet Olympiad in the discipline “Ecology and Environmental Protection” is conducted in the form of online testing. The sections of the discipline are determined in accordance with the requirements of the State Educational Standard of Higher Education of Turkmenistan.
- Students of all higher education institutions of Turkmenistan, regardless of departmental affiliation or organizational form, may participate.
- The working language of the Olympiad is Turkmen.
- Each university may nominate four students who have demonstrated the best academic performance in the discipline (three main participants and one reserve).
- Participants will be offered 50 test questions, with 90 minutes allocated for completion.
- The jury of the Olympiad is approved by the Rector of the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan.
- Participants have the right to submit an appeal through their team leader.
- Appeals are reviewed by the jury, and the final decision is made by the chairperson of the jury. The decision is final and not subject to revision.
- Determination and Awarding of Winners
- Individual rankings of participants in the final stage are determined by the jury based on the total score obtained.
- The results of the Olympiad are officially documented and approved by the Rector of the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan.
- Winners are awarded Diplomas of the I, II, and III Degrees.
- The total number of winners must not exceed 50% of the total number of participants.
