Myrat Orazgulyyevich Garryyev
On February 14, 2019 a meeting of our Hero Arkadag with representatives of social and political organizations and cultural system of the country took place in the Central of Public organizations in our capital. As we know, in this historical meeting, our Hero Arkadag mentioned that we have great personalities who have made a huge contribution to the development of world science, culture and art in the past and to immortalize their names. For this purpose, our Dear Arkadag purposed to name the State medical university of Turkmenistan after the outstanding public and social worker, the mentor of youth, Myrat Orazgulyyevich Garryyev, who completed great works in creating the modern healthcare system of the Medical University. On March 2, of the same year, at the regular meeting of the deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the 6th concovation, supporting the proposal of our Esteemed Arkadag, the decision of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on naming our medical university after Myrat Orazgulyyevich Garryyev was adopted. Myrat Orazgulyyevich Garryyev was born in Buzmeyin etrap of Ashgabat city on April 29,1932. He received his primary and secondary education in the 7th high school of that etarp. After finishing secondary school, he successfully completed secondary medical education in the field of pharmacy in 1948-1951. Then he entered Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute and graduated in 1957 with a degree in “Pharmacy”. Myrat Orazgulyyevich Garryyev in his meaningful career in 1957-1965 served as the head of the chief pharmacy department of the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan, in 1965-1989 in institutions under the control of the Academy of sciences of Turkmenistan: in the institute of Botany and Chemistry in various scientific positions-junior scientific officer, senior scientific officer, chief scientific officer, director for scientific affairs, in 1989-1990, the director of the Department Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the medical university, in the years 1990-1995, the CEO of the “Turkmenderman” State Scientific production association, in the years 1995-1996 Deputy minister of Healthcare and Medical industry of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chairman of the Council on Religious Affairs under the President of Turkmenistan in 1996-2007, Responsible Business Manager, Chairman of the Central Committee for Conducting Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan in 1999-2011. Since 2011 until the end of his life, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Council of Elders of Turkmenistan.
Myrat Orazgulyyevich Garryyev made a great personal contribution to the successful implementation of the Health and Education doctrines, which were the core of the state policy carried out during the years of Independence. In 1965, he entered the study as a graduate student at the laboratory of Plant substances of the Academy of sciences of Turkmenistan, and in 1968, after completing his graduate studies, he defended his candidate’s thesis a year ahead of time and was awarded the title of “Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences”. In 1983, he defended his doctoral dissertation and received the title of “Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences”. He was awarded the title of Professor in 1984. He is an academician of the academy of sciences of Turkmenistan, an “Honored Elder of the State” of Turkmenistan. For special personal services to the Motherland, he was awarded numerous orders and medals, including the “Veteran of Labor” medal in 1986, the “Gairat” medal in 1993, and the “Honored Elder of Turkmenistan” in 1994, he awarded the medal “Esteemed Humanity” in 1994 he was awarded the honorary title of “ Science and Technology worker of Turkmenistan”, in 1996 the medal for “For love to the Motherland” , “Revival” order in 1997, “Neutrality” order in 1999, “Altyn asyr” III- class order in 2001, “For selfless love of Turkmenistan” in 2002, in 2006 II-class “Altyn Asyr” order in 2007, I-class “Altyn Asyr” order.
Myrat Orazgulyyevich Garryyev is the author of about 200 scientific articles, about 10 scientific monographs and inventions, written for a wide readership, dedicated to plants containing essential oils, fatty acids, saponins, and terpenoids growing in the nature of Turkmenistan, entitled “Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan”. He is the author of textbooks and numerous teaching methods works. In particular, the book provides information on the morphological characteristics of medicinal plants, preparation of their raw materials, chemical composition, properties of active ingredients, and the use of medicinal plants in folk and scientific medicine. Under his leadership, 2 doctoral theses and 12 candidate theses were defended.
