The Pediatrics Faculty was established in 1970.

In different years since its establishment, the Pediatrics Faculty was headed by Professor E. Saklapov, Doctor of Medicine  S. Toylyev, Candidate of Medicine A. Gurbandurdyev, Candidate of Medicine, Sh. Sahetdurdyev. Since 2018, the faculty has been headed by the assistant of the Hospital Pediatrics Department Dovlet Kerimov.

The clinical bases of the Pediatrics Faculty are the Educational Scientific Centre for Maternal and Child’s Health Protection of Myrat Garryyev State Medical University , Scientific Clinical Centre for Maternal and Child’s Health Protection, S.A. Niyazov MKC , health houses of the city of Ashgabat. In the educational process, testing of students in the university portal is widely used. The departments of the Pediatrics Faculty are supplied with modern equipment, which makes it possible to conduct classes at a high technical level.

The teachers of the departments of the Pediatrics Faculty, along with educational work, carry out large-scale scientific research work, the main directions of which are devoted to the problems of studying the physiology and pathology of children in the dry and hot climate of the region. Work is actively carried out in the scientific student group. Research results are presented at the conferences. Every year, scientific works of students are submitted to the competition of young scientists. Medical and consultative work is carried out in the clinical bases. The teachers of the Pediatrics Faculty are the tutors of the departments. Besides, they participate in medical aviation calls; and consultations are held in hospitals.

Since 2019, between the Educational Scientific Center for Maternal and Child’s Health Protection of Myrat Garryyev State Medical University and all velayat medical institutions have established a telemedicine connection, where experienced teachers of the Pediatrics Faculty, together with the students through telemedicine, remote consultations of seriously ill patients with an unclear diagnosis, and remote lectures on topical issues of pediatrics and neonatology widely conduct. Clinical and pathological-anatomical analyses are also carried out there.

The teaching staff of the Pediatrics Faculty actively participates in the public and cultural events held at the state level, as well as at the level of the Health and Education Ministries and our university. Educational work, social and political events are carried out with attached groups, tutors and supervisors inquire about the family and social status, place of residence and work of the students. During planned and festive shifts, on the "days of the department" in student hostels, meetings are held with the students on the issues of the national and foreign policy of our state.
