The Department was established in 2012. At present the department teaches in two disciplines: pediatrics and neonatology. Postgraduate education includes 3-month cycles of primary specialization, thematic and qualification cycles.
The staff of the department prepared more than 30 teaching aids, collections of knowledge control tests, multimedia presentations of lecture material. Part of the material is presented in electronic form for the central library of the university. Each year, together with the departments of the pediatric profile, telecasts are held on topical issues of pediatrics.
Staff of the department carry out a lot of medical advisory work both in person and with the help of telemedicine, carry out air ambulance visits. The clinical base of the department is the Study - Scientific Center of maternity and child health of Myrat Garryyev State Medical University Turkmenistan.
Discussion of the patient together with the doctors of the pediatricians The research work of the department is carried out in the following areas: “Micronutrient status in children with prolonged diarrhea», «Selected issues of pediatric gastroenterology," “Features of the physical and neuropsychic development of children born immature”. Results of scientific research is listened at conferences and symposiums, regularly published on pages of scientific magazines.
Staff of the department carry out health education among the population, promoting a healthy lifestyle, speak on radio and television, on the pages of newspapers and magazines.
