The department of postgraduate education on stomatology was founded in 2012. Training of the students of postgraduate education consists of several cycles:

- primary specialization for 3 months;

- professional improvement of doctors for 1 month;

- integrated improvement of doctors-stomatologists on several disciplines

- therapeutic, surgical, orthopedic stomatology;

- advanced training of doctors in various sections of stomatology (therapy, surgery and orthopedics) for 2 weeks;

- one-year internship of stomatologists.

After completing the training cycle, doctors pass exams and receive a certificate of compliance with the specialty.

The discipline on therapeutic, surgical and orthopedic stomatology includes in many thematic areas: organization of therapeutic dental care for the population; medical deontology; modern methods of clinical and functional diagnostics and instrumental methods of research of oral diseases; needing orthopedic and complex treatment; application of phytotherapy and physiotherapy methods for the treatment of dental diseases. Prophylactic of the diseases of organs and tissues of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area, and also their treatment is the main direction of the stomatology as division of clinic medicine and the most important disciplines on lecture and practice lessons of the department.

In the structure of the study process in the retraining of the dentists are used the progressive educational technology, that allowed the students to get necessary modern knowledge and practical skills, efficiency to introduce them in practice, to develop their professional and communicative abilities.

Main clinic basis of the department is located in the Study-Industrial Stomatology Center, is part of the structure of Myrat Garryyev State Medical university of Turkmenistan. The department has necessary complex of lecture rooms and study laboratories, equipped modern facilities, which allowed to introduce in practice innovative technology on prophylactic and treatment of the diseases of oral cavity.

Main directions of scientific activity: modern methods of diagnostic, prophylactic and treatment teeth caries, periodontal tissue diseases, tumor and non-tumor pathology of the oral mucosa and periodontal; methods for diagnosing anomalies in the development of the dental system; features of orthopedic care in patients with endocrine diseases (diabetes, hypothyroidism, etc.); modern methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of chronic odontogenic foci.

Textbooks “Therapeutic stomatology”, “Periodontal disease”, “Stomatology” are published by the staff of the department, also prepared study-methodical and visual manuals on main study disciplines.
