The department of postgraduate training in therapy was organized in 2012., in its structure highly qualified specialists in the field of cardiology, functional diagnostics and therapy, nephrology, pulmonologists and endocrinology. The clinical basis of the department of therapy is the nephrology department of the Medical and Consulting Center named after S. Niyazov. Improvement at the department is carried out in 4 areas: therapy, endocrinology, functional diagnostics and laboratory science.
“Internal diseases in practice of family doctor”, “Internal diseases”, ”Basic of internal diseases”, “Functional diagnostic”, “Laboratory diagnostic” are published by the staff of the department.
The improvement of the educational process is carried out by creating new programs based on the principles of evidence-based medicine. The staff of the department prepared 31 programs of thematic improvement cycles for medical doctors (general practitioners, cardiologists, rheumatologists, nephrologists, endocrinologists, emergency doctors, functional diagnostics doctors) lasting from 2 weeks to 3 months, followed by certification of specialists. It has also been prepared 11 programs for one-year internships and 2 programs for biennial clinical residency.
Staff of the department apply classroom and extracurricular forms of training. As extracurricular forms apply: preparation of abstracts and reports; acquaintance with additional literature; work with atlases; solving situational problems; completion of analysis forms; production of visual aids; study of instructive and normative documents of the Ministry of Health and the Medical Industry of Turkmenistan; selection of periodicals; work with computer training programs; X-rays data of ultrasound, spirography and ECG.
The department staff prepared 30 educational and methodological recommendations on various sections of the pathology of internal organs. Students actively use teaching literature at the department and in the well-equipped rooms of the scientific and medical library of the university. The department has a collection of situational tasks (over 50 for each specialty), test programs for each specialty, test control of the basic and final level of knowledge of students are carried out. The final qualification exam is carried out in three stages and includes: testing, assessment of practical skills and an interview.
Acquirement by the teachers adjacent , more actual for medical and pedagogical process of specialty, significantly improve effectiveness and potency of the listeners’ training. This is also facilitated by the holding of clinical conferences and seminars of the round table type at the department, the exchange of experience, listening to and discussing essays prepared by cadets on the most pressing issues of internal medicine, diagnostic algorithms and treatment protocols, and disease prevention. The department introduced integration cycles: “Features of the course of cardiovascular disease in diabetes” and “The basics of ultrasound diagnostics in gastroenterology”.
The main scientific activities of the department are: study of clinical and functional changes in the cardiovascular system in the pathology of the thyroid gland; prevention and early diagnosis of noncommunicable diseases; features of the course of myocardial infarction in people of young and mature age. During the creation of the department, 28 scientific papers have been prepared and published.
Participation in the work of scientific and practical conferences and seminars, provide constant organizational, methodological, advisory and therapeutic assistance to practical public health, staff of the department make their contribution for the realization national program “Health”.
