The Pharmaceutical Faculty of the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after Myrat Garryev was opened in 1981 to train highly qualified specialists in the field of pharmacy, pharmacology and pharmacognosy. The form of study is full-time, the duration of study is five years. Graduates receive the qualification "pharmacist".

The Departments of Pharmacy and Pharmacology are the main departments. Educational and state practice of students of the Faculty of Pharmacy is conducted in pharmacies, factories, in the Central Botanical Garden of Ashgabat, in the reserves of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan, in the State Center for Registration and Quality Control of Medicines.

Students of the faculty, on the basis of the scientific and encyclopedic book "Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan" by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, conduct research work to study, develop technologies for new dosage forms, as well as improve methods for analyzing medicines, including medicinal plants. The results obtained are reported at speeches in scientific and practical conferences, published on the pages of scientific journals of Turkmenistan and foreign countries. Completed scientific works are offered for various competitions and are awarded honorary places, including the competition held between young scientists of the Central Council of the Youth Organization named after Makhtumkuli of Turkmenistan.

 

The teachers of the departments, together with students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, carry out curatorial and mentoring work, take an active part in festive events held at the university and on a national scale.

Graduates of the faculty are employed in the subordinate pharmacies of the Main Pharmacy Department, at the factories of the “Turkmendermansenagat” association, at the State Center for Registration and Quality Control of Medicines, at medical forensic examination institutions, at the production association “Lukmançylyk enjamlary”, at the Institute of Medicinal Plants.
