The Department of Endocrinology began to work in 1976. Since 1999, the course has continued its activities as part of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Endocrinology and Hospital Therapy.

 

In the last decade, the world has seen a sharp increase in diseases of the endocrine system, especially diabetes mellitus and thyroid diseases. On September 1, 2023, a separate department of endocrinology began its work on the basis of the Scientific and Clinical Center of Cardiology, which became part of the medical faculty of the university. Currently, the department conducts classes according to developed curricula taking into account new achievements in the field of endocrinology at the faculties of medical, pediatric, preventive, rehabilitation and sports medicine, as well as military medicine.

 

The interactive teaching method is used in practical and lecture classes. In addition, the department prepares responsible coordinators and applicants for the specialty “endocrinology”. The research work of the department is carried out on the topics “Study of diabetes mellitus and thyroid diseases in Turkmenistan” and “Early detection of diabetes mellitus using the FINDRICS questionnaire.” 

     

The employees of the department have prepared the textbook “Endocrinology”, the monograph “Diabetes Mellitus”, educational and methodological manuals are planned and published annually.

The students' research work is aimed at studying the effect of medicinal plants on diabetes mellitus.

 

The treatment and consultation base is equipped with modern medical equipment, which helps students improve their knowledge.
