The history of the Stomatology  Department begins in 1966, and the Therapeutic Stomatology Department separated into an independent one, was established in 1977. Today, the students of the Stomatology Faculty are taught in 3 disciplines. The discipline of Therapeutic Stomatology includes the study of dental caries in adults and its complications, non-carious lesions, periodontal inflammation, dystrophic and malignant tumors, individual lesions of the oral mucosa and these organs. In the classes on propaedeutic of therapeutic dentistry, the anatomical and topographic structure of the oral cavity organs and methods of examining patients in a phantom are studied. Physiotherapy of dental diseases includes the study of physical methods for the diagnosis and treatment of major oral diseases in adults.

 

The staff of the department has published textbooks: “Propaedeutic of Therapeutic Stomatology”, “Physiotherapy of Oral Cavity Diseases”, as well as teaching aids.

 

The main directions of the scientific activity are: clinic, diagnostics and modern methods of treatment and prevention of dental caries and their complications; modern aspects of periodontal tissue diseases; methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of chronic odontogenic foci of infections.

 

The staff of the department carries out work on the diagnosis, analysis, treatment and prevention of such widespread diseases in dental practice as dental caries and its complications – pulpitis, periodontitis and periodontal tissue diseases of oral mucosa, tongue, lips.
