The Histology, Embryology, Cytology Department was established in 1932.  and within a short time has become a major centre of histological research and training. 

When studying the course of histology, students of the first and second courses of the faculties get acquainted with the fundamentals of histological techniques, the structure and operation of all microscopes, study the microscopic and electronic- microscopic structure of cells, tissues and organs. 

The teachers of the department are constantly working to introduce advanced, innovative digital teaching methods into the educational process, contributing to the in-depth immersion of students in the discipline.  All this is possible thanks to the supply of the department with high-tech innovative equipment for lectures and practical classes. 

The department has 8 classrooms, a small lecture hall, a histological laboratory, which consists of a training room with phase-contrast, binocular and other microscopes, an interactive whiteboard equipped with an automated tissue processor, a histological laboratory, devices for staining preparations, pouring paraffin, etc. Lessons are conducted using the introduction of innovative technologies, thematic presentations, video demonstrations, and by means of teleconference, there is also an opportunity to conduct intra and inter university conferences. 

The department actively conducts a modular teaching system that allows students not only to gain knowledge on the subject, but also to consolidate previously completed disciplines.  By a special computer programme, students are tested and solve situational problems with great interest.

 

The staff of the department has published the textbook "Histology, Cytology, Embryology" in the Turkmen language, developed about 80 teaching aids, including "Collection of lectures on histology, embryology, cytology for the 1st-2nd-year students of Medical, Pediatrics, Medical-Prophylactic and Stomatology Faculties, as well as Military and Sports Medicine Faculty,  “A List of Practical Skills in Histology", "Tests in Histology, Embryology, Cytology", "Atlas of Histology, Embryology, Cytology", "Integrated Modules on the Subject of Histology, Embryology,  Cytology". 

The teachers of the department actively carry out educational work with students, being tutors and supervisors, coordinate their cognitive process.
