The department of children stomatology was established in 1990. And then the department received the new name and in 2014 it became independent subdivision of the medical university, be a part of the structure of the stomatology faculty. At the department of children’s stomatology is taught students of the stomatology faculty, the third year students of the pediatric faculty on subject of children’s stomatology and improve their qualification stomatologists on children’s therapeutic stomatology.

 

Discipline in pediatric therapeutic dentistry includes the features of diagnosis and treatment of dental caries and its complications (pulpitis, periodontitis) in children, non-carious lesions of the hard tissues of the teeth (hypoplasia, fluorosis, hyperplasia), periodontal inflammation and others, as well as the procedure for organizing dental care. Study the development of the maxillofacial region, , the formation of the dentitionand dentition in general, as well as the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of occlusion anomalies are taught at the orthodontics subject. Discipline in pediatric surgical dentistry includes the study of the diagnosis and treatment of periodontitis of milk and permanent teeth in children and its complications abscess, phlegmon, lymphadenitis, diseases of the salivary glands, trauma and tumors of the maxillofacial region. At the lessons the students learn measures and means of prevention against the most common diseases of the oral cavity in children and adolescents.

 

At the department for each discipline, a lot of educational and methodical teütbooks and visual aids have been prepared. Besides, it was published the teütbooks: “Diseases of the oral cavity in children”, “Prevention of diseases of the oral cavity in children”, “Periodontal disease in children”,” Dental hard tissue disease in children”.

 

Scientific activity by the staff of the department consists in learning clinic, diagnostic, up-to-date methods of treatment and prevention of dental caries, chronic odontogenic pesthole in children; early diagnostics paradontium disease in children; Diagnosis of periodontal periodontal tissues with malocclusion in children.
