The Medical Faculty of Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan was established in 1931. The faculty includes 19 departments, the students’ dean's office, the academic council of the faculty and the educational and methodological commission.

The Medical Faculty mainly trains family doctors and specialists in profile directions. These are surgeons, therapists, cardiologists, obstetricians-gynecologists, oncologists, ophthalmologists, endocrinologists, resuscitators, urologists and other dozens important specialists in the medical industry.

The main clinical bases of the faculty are large medical and prophylactic centres of Turkmenistan. Among them are the Oncology Scientific  Clinical Centre, S. A. Niyazov Medical Consultative Centre, the Directorate of the Centres for Infectious Diseases, the Traumatology International Centre, the Cardiology Scientific Clinical Centre, the Emergency Aid Centre and others.

The departments of the faculty are supplied with modern equipment, innovative multimedia teaching methods have been introduced. Friendly teams of professors, associate professors, assistants, senior teachers work at the departments which makes it possible to train narrow-profile specialists in various fields of medicine and general family doctors for the practical health care of the country.

Turkmenistan has approved a concept for the development of a digital educational system and a plan for its implementation. The corresponding resolution was issued by Esteemed Arkadag at a government meeting. The document was adopted to improve the activities of educational institutions, to wide use digital resources, enrich the educational process and ensure its compliance with international standards.

In accordance with the action plan for the implementation of the above-mentioned Concept, with the support of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, with the efforts of specialists, professors and teachers, as well as with the participation of students, a programme for networking digital education and a digital portal have been developed. Thanks to the wide introduction of digital technologies, telelectures and video conferences with the participation of foreign partners are regularly organized in universities.

The faculty and students of the faculty carry out a large research work in various areas. The scientific work of a clinical intern of hospital therapy with a course of clinical pharmacology and endocrinology took the 1st place in the competition of the young scientists of Turkmenistan. The students of the Medicine Faculty have repeatedly been awarded the title of "Student of the Year". Faculty students annually participate in various Internet Olympiads and take prize-winning places.
